Chimo Taekwondo

Our Classes

Join us to learn Taekwondo

Beginner Classes

Held three times per week, our Beginner classes are designed for students aged 5 and up who have never had any martial arts training. The goals in this class include learning the basics of Taekwondo, building some fitness and learning the customs and standards of training at Chimo.

While the training is hard we always try to make it fun, educational and engaging. We recognize that martial arts training can be a lifelong journey and we work hard every class to immerse our students in the adventure of Taekwondo.

Advanced Classes

Designed for students who have been promoted to Yellow or Orange belt, our Advance class is focused on taking basic skills and applying them to more intense and immersive training. Training at Chimo includes both traditional and modern styles of Taekwondo and the Advance class is where the full spectrum of skills are taught.

Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and push their personal goals, shape their own martial arts practice, and prepare for promotion to Black Belt.

Adult Classes

Martial arts training isn’t just for kids. Our Adult classes consider the fact that adults train differently than kids do and often begin their martial arts journey with different goals, fitness levels and abilities.

Our Instructors have all dealt with the realities of older students and factor their personal lessons into the training offered to adults. The skills are the same and the goal of earning a Black Belt remains the same for Adults as they do for younger students. We will just get you there a bit more gently.

Black Belt and Test Prep Classes

A major goal for many martial artists is achieving the coveted Black Belt. Getting there is a journey that is marked by ten levels of colour belt, each signifying the mastering of specific skills. Each student at Chimo travels a personal journey that follows its own timetable. The Test Prep Classes are an added class designed to cement the skills required for each belt level. A small group with one-on-one attention of Instructors ensures this class will support every student to reach their goals.

He attacked every challenge and every opportunity with passion and that energy was infectious to those around him.

Many a new Taekwondo student who initially looked with fear at this huge, loud man soon learned to love him for his gentle soul and the personal interest he showed in everyone’s growth and goals.
